SECOTO INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP: ELEVATING THE INTERCONTINENTAL GREEN CUP and WORLD GREEN CUP of ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB

In a bold leap towards redefining the landscape of global sports and environmental conservation, the SECOTO International Workshop stands as a beacon of innovation and collaboration. At its epicenter lies the Intercontinental Green Cup, an ambitious endeavor poised to transcend borders and unite nations in a collective quest for sustainability. As SECOTO solidifies its position as the premier mega sports event dedicated to conservation, the Intercontinental Green Cup emerges as its crowning jewel, symbolizing a paradigm shift in how we approach environmental advocacy through sports. Far more than a mere tournament, the Green Cup embodies a vision of inclusivity, empowerment, and global solidarity.

The journey begins at the grassroots level, with Eco clubs from every corner of the globe vying for the opportunity to showcase their talents on the world stage. Through a rigorous qualification process at the SECOTO Country Level, these clubs earn the distinction of representing their respective nations in the Green Cup. The allocation of Eco teams per continent reflects a commitment to equity and diversity, ensuring that every region has a voice in the conversation.

In its inaugural edition, the Green Cup transcends boundaries, bringing together young visionaries aged 18 to 35 from diverse cultural backgrounds and geographic regions. United by a common purpose, these trailblazers converge to compete not only for glory on the field but also for the future of our planet. Football, basketball, volleyball, and entertainment serve as the backdrop for this extraordinary spectacle, providing a platform for athletes and enthusiasts alike to showcase their skills and passion for environmental conservation. Beyond the exhilarating displays of athleticism, the Green Cup catalyzes change, inspiring individuals and communities to take action and make a positive impact on the world around them.

The stage was set for this transformative journey on June 22nd, 2023, as Eco Arts Initiative and the SECOTO Management Team led by Patience Shumbusho joined forces in Kigali, Rwanda. Against the backdrop of this vibrant city, 71 delegates representing 29 regions of URI convened for a one-week immersion meeting at the prestigious Park Inn by Radisson Hotel. This historic gathering marked the debut of the United Religions Initiative (URI) in Rwanda, signaling a new era of collaboration and cooperation in Africa and beyond.

Offering a rich tapestry of experiences, the program transcended traditional boundaries, combining round-table discussions, project showcases, and special screenings to create a dynamic platform for dialogue and engagement. From the halls of academia to the corridors of power, the SECOTO International Workshop sparked conversations that reverberated far beyond its walls, igniting a global movement for change. In the grand tapestry of human history, moments of transformation are rare and fleeting. Yet, in the crucible of collaboration and shared purpose, we find the power to shape our destiny and chart a course toward a brighter future. As we embark on this journey together, let us seize this moment as an opportunity to build bridges, break down barriers, and forge a path toward a more sustainable and resilient world for generations to come.
